Understanding Mahakali Yantra Meaning in Vedic Astrology

The Mahakali Yantra is one that has been dedicated to the Goddess Mahakali. According to mythology the Mahakali is known to be the goddess of time and death. This goddess is the destroyer of evil and therefore its Yantra is one that is used for protection against all kinds of evil. The Yantra is known to have occult power and therefore keeps away evil in all forms.

The Yantra should be made with great precision and should be free of errors or else it will not work. The Yantra is made up of five inverted triangles and has a central point in the middle that resembles a bindu. The triangles in turn are enclosed by three circles and eight petals which in turn are enclosed by four doors. This symbol of the Mahakali Yantra is made on silver or copper plates and can be worn around the neck or arm. Outside the lotus petals is inscribed the "Beej" or seed mantra of the goddess.

The Yantra like any other is first needed to be activated or invoked. This is done by worshipping the Yantra during the eight day of Chaitra, Asra, Shravan and Magh months of the Vikrami year. The worshipping or invoking the Yantra has to be carried out in a special way and needs to be done by a learned pundit who expertises in this field. When the invoking of this Yantra is being carried out the image of the Goddess Kali should be present in the altar.

There are many uses and reasons for people to wear this Yantra; however the main objective of this Yantra is for protection. The other uses of Yantra includes controlling of enemies, warding off of evil spirits, spiritual power, fulfilment of desire, increase of wealth and also fighting against disease that cannot be cured by medicines. It has also been known to be a remedy for chronic diseases such as nervous disorders, blood pressure and paralysis. It is known not only to cure chronic diseases and warding off evil spirits but also nullify the effects of the planets that might hamper a person's life.

The goddess Kali is known to be a consort of Lord Shiva the divine god of destruction. The goddess is depicted to be black in colour with her tongue lolling. She being the destroyer of evil is depicted by her wearing a skirt of demon hands and each of her four hands is carrying a sword, severed head, a trident and a bowl. She is known to be an incarnate of the mother goddess and therefore has been depicted in the Yantra by the pictographic symbols.

The invoking of the Goddess into the Yantra is carried out in the same process as that of others but the mantra that is to be chanted is different. The Mantra that is chanted for Goddess kali is "Om Kreeng Kalikaye Namah, Om Kapalinyey Namah".

All in all this particular Yantra is a very powerful one and has been used by many people. The Yantra can be made in many forms like that of a ring, arm bracelet, necklace or kada. However the material used to make the Mahakali Yantra must be of silver and copper only. The Yantra that has been inscribed on or made with any other material is completely useless.
