The stone made cell is reminiscent of the brutality of emperor Kansa on that time. In accordance with the legend, Emperor Kansa was the dictatorial ruler of Mathura and prophecies stated that he will be killed by the son of his own sister. Thus, for stopping his own elimination, Kansa confined his sister as well as his brother-in-law in a prison cell. On that prison, god Krishna was born and his birthplace is marked by a lump in a stone. The prison cell was progressively become the current beautiful temple.
