Madhyamaheshwar Temple is the 4th Panch kedar to be visited in the Lord Shiva temple visit order on the Himalayas. This panch kedar pilgrimage is undergone from May to October months of a year annually. The other season are rain few and snow fed, which makes pilgrims unable to access. Either from November to April months this temple is closed for the devotees and pilgrimages. In the kedar seasons this temple is filled with many devotees including from foreign countries. Here the daily arthi pooja is conducted in the evening, to see this many people's including the villager gather here. Lord Shiva is the preserver of the universe and all Hindus believe to get blessed from his earlier abode place in the Himalayas. So many Hindus follows this panch kedar pilgrim to get salvation and offer prayers from this greater Himalayas. The Shivites sects of Hinduism regularly visit these temples. But all sect of Hinduism follow this panch kedar pilgrimage.
The creator of Madhyamaheshwar Temple or Madmaheshwar Temple is known to be the Pancha Pandavas of the Mahabharata Epic legends. They came here in search of Lord Shiva so as to get blessed from him. But lord Shiva don't want to bless these war legends who won the Kurekshtra war with lot of tactics. Therefore he hides at these five places, which are now known as the Panch Kedars. Either the Five Peaks were Lord Shiva is seen in the ancient times. The pandavas instead prayed this place as divine and converted these places as temples to honor Lord Shiva. Hence from the ancient times to present days this temple is a great worship place of Lord Shiva. In the medieval periods, the Gharwal rulers and the Nepali kings contributed to this temple to make this temple a great temple by altering its old structure and converted in to huge temple.
Madhyamaheshwar Temple is recently altered in the medieval times, though the builder of this temple is unknown. But whoever has built this temple has seen to keep the Hindu temple architecture style in it. This is totally a stone temple made out of granite stones. These stones were locally cut from the same mountains itself. It is a simple cute structure with an entrance building in the form of a traditional house and a tower dome attached with this entrance building making the main temple in the last or behind the entrance house. The main sanctum sanctorum lies straight down the main tower. There are temple flags on the top of the dome of this temple. Also on the tower there is a small porch like structure on its top making it more beautiful to look. In front of this temple there is a big Brass Bell hanging on a stone pillar. The surroundings are open pasture land with few mountain peaks seen from here.
The Maha Shivarathri is grandly celebrated here. Few devotees do take pilgrimage to this temple on this auspicious day for their presence at this temple. It is a great fair with its villagers and performed with many rituals and ceremonies. The festival has great importance and thus it is celebrate with much joy and following all the religious rituals making it truly alluring and grandeur.
