Lalithamba Temple is located in Uppa Guda, in Lalitha Bagh, in Hyderabad, in the state of Telangana, in South India. It is just a few kilometers from Huppuguda Railway Station. It is a medieval Hindu temple that is part and parcel of the old suburbs in Hyderabad. It is an important region in the old city of Hyderabad. Lalithamba Temple Religious Significance

It is to be remembered that Goddess Lalitha is popularly known as Lalitha Tripura Sundari Devi. Locally, this Goddess is called as the Red Goddess. This particular Goddess is one of the most powerful manifestations of Goddess Shakti as per Hindu religion. This Goddess in a successful manner demolished the demon named Bhandasura who is strongly believed to be formed from the ashes of Kama deva or Manmadha, the God of seduction and love. It is to be highly noted that the Lalitha Sahasranama largely describes this Goddess as perfectly leads a devotee to liberation and extremely merciful. According to the local legends, this Goddess is rightly described as golden, red and dusky in color, depending in union with Lord Shiva and on the forms of meditation. This God-Goddess couple is portrayed traditionally on a pedestal, a throne and a bed that is rightly upheld by Lord Ishana, Rudra, Vishnu and Brahma and Sadashiva perfectly forming the plank. The Goddess holds sugarcane as a bow represents the mind, a goad represents repulsion, a noose represents attachment and five arrows of flowers that represent the five sense objects. This Goddess combines Durga's complexion, grace and charm plus Kali's determination. On forehead, she has a third eye. The Goddess is richly bejeweled, clad in red and four-armed. At this shrine, Surya puja is performed on auspicious days and festive days. Adherent devotees of the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secundrabad wholeheartedly visit this particular temple with family members, relatives and close friends.
