Devotees and pilgrims come here with a great devotion and many come here with few mental and physical problems to be solved by the Devi's power after making few offering to this goddess and getting blessed by her. This temple is known to conduct the Kaliyata festival, which is celebrated very grandly, once in a 25 years. The other festivals are the Bharani Utsav and the Nadavali Utsav. Large numbers of devotees gathers in this festival season. The Kenda Seve is participated by many of its devotees. This is an act of walking on fire. This may be on burning woods or a platform of burning charcoals. It is believed that a devotee can walk on this burning fire and will have no pain or burns on their legs, if a devotee comes with true devotions. This act is done on a person's will only and there are no compulsions to perform by everyone who visit here on the festival occasions. This fire walks performed by its devotees is a great act to see here. This is done by women devotees mostly. All of these festivals are seen very exciting with lot of cultural activities, traditional music's and with lights and flowers decorations in and around this temple. During the festival season, the temple becomes the major attractions and the festival is celebrated with great pomp and show.

This temple is constructed over 2 acres of land in the prime centre of Mangalore City. This ancient temple was recreated and built few new structures by maintaining its past architecture in it. Its craftsman is brought from the Kerala and the Karnataka States who were experts in stone architecture. It has got a very good masterpiece of Veera Stambha, an architectural marvel on monolith stone works built over stages of time. It is a unique temple when compared to other temples found in the Dravidian region. It is well known for its stone art and wooden works. This temple first welcomes you with a huge arched pillar in a triangular shape at its top. Its pillars are having very unique carvings and on the top of its arch a small tower is seen with a sculptor in it. It has got a back side entrance, which is having an arched pillar with few pediments of gods on its top. There is black granite stones used in its construction work. There are pillared corridors found along with its main walls. This temple is totally fenced with huge walls. The beauty of this temple can be seen from inside only. The main deity is placed n the Garbha Graha of this temple; it is beautifully built with carving works. There are also few structures found in the Kerala style. These have clay tiles on its roof, placed in a slanting manner. There are also many wood works on its structures, these are found in traditional carving works. The 800 years old temple is built with unique craftsmanship and artisans from Karnataka and Kerala has put up their best of efforts to bring the masterpiece work to the world. Thus along with the serenity and holy ambiance, devotees are sure to soak the beauty of the architectural splendor, which is unique and special from every sphere.
