The temple of ISKCON contains the deities of most of the Hindu gods. However, the prime idol of the temple is considered as the deity of Lord Krishna. Mythologically, Lord Krishna is another form of Lord Vishnu. He had a very eye-catching look, which makes people as well as animals attract towards him. He was blue in colour, had a peacock's feather on his head and a flute always in his hand which he plays every time. Due to the repeated destructions of evil king Kansha to the citizens of Mathura, Vishnu has taken the form of Lord Krishna and born as the nephew of Kansha. From the beginning Kansha was jealous with his nephew and wanted to kill him. However, every time his evil tricks failed to kill Krishna as he was a god. Finally, Krishna defeated his uncle in a war and freed the people of Mathura from his bondage. From that day people started worshipping Krishna and that relates to the creation of ISKCON Temples in India.
The ISKCON Society has constructed as many as 40 temples in India. Still devotees came here due to the attraction of its architectural beauty. On the 14th of February in 1978 the ISKCON Temple of Mumbai was established by Prabhupada. He was an ardent follower of Lord Krishna. After entering the temple one can witness the deities of Rama, Sita, Lakshmana and Hanuman inscribed in the walls forming the legendary story the Ramayana.
