The Durga Temple found here have beautiful sculptor of Durga Devi killing a demon named Mahisha. This temple is known for the interior stone art works, which have spectacular looks. Once this place was a dense forest and the tribal lived here adorned this temple as the forest goddess.



The word Maha literally means to Lord Shiva and kuta means group. Hence, this place is called as the group of Shiva temples or the Mahakuta. Here lord Shiva is worshiped in the form of Linga and his actual manifest in sculptors. This group of temples is also known as the Dakshina Kashi. The naturally formed Shiva Linga is the main deity and Shiva Rathri is its main festival, were many takes pilgrim to this temple.
