Sri Anjaneya Swamy Temple is located in a village named Beechupally in Itikyal, in the district of Mahbubnagar, in the state of Telangana, in South India. It is situated on the confluence of River Tungabhadra with River Krishna. It is just 1 km far from Kondapet village and 10 miles from Itikyala. Gadwal and Puduru are the nearest Railway stations. It is very close to the large bridge just across the River Krishna in between Bangalore and Hyderabad on National Highway no. 7. It is to be highly noted that the common names of the local peoples belonging to various communities are Beechupallayya, Beechanna and Beechamma.

Anjaneya Swamy Temple Religious Significance

The family deity of the people of Mahaboob Nagar, Raichur and Kurnool is Beechupally Hanuman. This temple was largely patronized by the Kings of Gadwal till its sudden fall after independence. The chariot festival of the temple every year is conducted by the Royal Family in a religious manner that is perfectly blended with ancient customs and tradition of this temple. This temple also received the patronage of Mouryas, Satavahanas, Ikshvakus, Chalukyas of Badami, Rastrakutas, Kalyani Chalukyas, Kakatiyas, Vijayanagar Kings and Sultans. It is strongly believed that the idol of Hanuman might was installed by Sri Vyasa Raya, the guru of Sri Krishna Devaraya who lived during 1457 - 1539 A.D. This shrine was in a successful manner built with very spacious Mandapam by Gadwal Kings in the sanctum sanctorum around 200 years ago. The temple is facing south direction and Hanuman idol is facing towards East direction. Most people tonsure their hair at this shrine. It is the best place for religious tonsure of head of the children. This temple has a Kamili tree which is regarded as a sacred tree that fulfills the wishes of its worshippers. Pilgrims come from Dharwad, Hubli, Raichur, Adoni, Ulindakonda, Kurnool, Mahabubnagar, Wanaparthi and Gadwal.
