During the early period of 17th century, the city of Hyderabad was successfully ruled by a King named Tana Shah. At the Golkonda Fort, he was the Emperor. The royal king had several ministers at his royal court of which Akkanna and Madanna both were brothers who wholeheartedly served as The Prime Minister and The Commander in Chief respectively. It is to be highly remembered that these two brothers were very favorite individuals of the king. It is to be highly noted that they stayed in a house very near where this temple of Mahankali largely existed in the same spot. They were the true disciples of Goddess Mahankali. Everyday, they performed pooja at the holy temple much before they directly left for the royal court of Golconda for their professional day's work. When they were killed in a battle, this temple was immediately closed. At Shalibanda, the temple was revived from the ruined debris of Hari Bowli. This temple was re-created in the present form at the same spot here. Thus looking at the importance of the temple from historical significance, it is much important but what exactly counts is the belief of the people and their faith.
