Lakshmangarh Fort is a unique hilltop fort located at Laxmangarh town, Sikar District in Rajastahan State of India. It is a 209 years old fort built by laxman Singh who ruled this area. It has many architectural values; those are not seen in other forts in Rajasthan. It is the only well maintained fort by a private party in India.

Lakshmangarh Fort Architecture

Lakshmangarh Fort is built on a small citadel mount which is nearly 310 meters in height. This little mount is a giant structure of metamorphic rocks. Few rock stones were mined from the above mount areas for its foundation work purposes. It has also got many rock dust and debris from the construction of deep well inside the fort area. Another specialty of its stones used are the unique stones brought from the Syanan and Gopalpura areas, which have dotted black and white patches on its. These stones were considered to be very strong one and cannot be broken out easily. These stones has got a very smooth finishing and these are used her on the palace floors. It has very stronger fortified walls. On the inside there are 23 slim towers built with balconies found here. There are very large living rooms and spacious kitchens are built. It has open verandahs, a large courtyard, temples and gardens inside the fortress. On the way to the fort, there are two temples built here for good will purpose. One is the Hanuman Temple for Strength and power and the other is of Bhairavji placed in a small cave along the fort pathways. These are considered to be sacred temples. Its gates are built really stronger that it was unable to break easily. These large doors were fixed with hard nails on it. Such four gates were found here. There is also an underground burrow built here to evacuate its members in times of wars and aggressions. The master architect of this fortress was a person belongs to Jat family from the north India. It took two years to construct its min structure and the interior parts took around four years to complete totally as a royal palace. Nearly 1000 laborers were used in its construction activities day and night. It has got one of the unique craftsmanship all over this fortress. It is totally constructed on the Rajputana and Mughal style of architect.

Lakshmangarh Fort History

Lakshmangarh Fort is now a private property; it was betrayed to Ram Niwasji, who belongs to a rich family called the Jhunjhunwala's in the year 1960 AD. They were residing here with altering in to modern amenities on the interior of this place. Much care was taken while altering. The outer structures were not tampered, to keep its glory. On the other hand the interior is a mix of royal and modern crafts, which are looking more luxurious now. It is said that the royal decedents made this option to sale of this fort due to extreme poverty; they were once lived in the royal luxuries and were the rulers of this region. This fortress was in the attack of the Mughals and the Marathas. But this fort was really strong enough to withstand those attacks. The fortress had three famous cannons, which safe guarded them from the enemies. Presently it is a private property and tourists are not allowed inside the fortress. But it is one of the well maintained fortresses in India by a private owner.

Lakshmangarh Fort is the strongest and most untouched fortress in Rajasthan. This is unique in its architecture on this citadel mounts. This is not open to public, but can be viewed from the outside regions and one can reach up to its front gate. There are two important temples which the common public can visit here on it pathway to fortress. Apart from that historical point of view its artistic view and more of all its historical significance makes it an important tourist attractions. But as no one is allowed to visit inside, its beauty is less explored and less known to the common public, but it is one of the most important and well organized fort that is still maintained in the same glory and beauty till date.
