Information on King Kothi Palace (Hyderabad, Telangana) - History & Architecture

King Kothi Palace is the royal palace of the last Nizami king Osman Ali Khan (1886 - 1967). It is located in the Kothi Road, Hyderaguga, Hyderabad District of Telengana State in India. This palace is in the heart of the city, which can be reached by local transports available here. It is a beautiful palace of royal and riches that one must visit while coming to Hyderabad. To reach here its nearest junction are Chennai to Hyderabad is 629 Km, Bangalore to Hyderabad is 569 Km and Mumbai is 706 Km. King Kothi Palace Architecture

King Kothi Palace was designed and built by Architect named Kamal Khan. Its architectural pattern is of European mixed with India tinges. The entire palace is built of granites stones. The outer structure resembles the British style of designs. Internally it has the Indian touches of art crafts specially made for the royal families. It has two floors with large windows and balconies. Its corridors are filled with thin pillars. It has many circular and a triangular dome on the edges of the edifice.It has many large windows with glass framings. Special care is taken on the interior on the marble works. All its pillars and callings are well carved in running designs. It does have few geometrical designs to mark the western influence on the edifice.

King Kothi Palace History

King Kothi Palace is also called the Nazri Bagh Palace. The designer of the palace has made his mark as 'KK' in the entrance wall, since his name was Kamal Khan. But the Nawab named it as King Kothi instead. Later on it acquired the title as 'King Kothi Palace". Still the royal decedents stay in this palace. This palace is in the centre of the city and all his court activities were executed in his palace. The Nawab came to this palace at the age of 13 years old and died here at the age of 80 on 24th February 1967. He desired he must be laid to rest in the Judi mosque which is nearby to his palace. He is the only Nawab who didn't shift his palace in his life time. The last king of princely era lived here is the credit goes to the Kothi palace. From the presence of this palace, this place is titled as Koti.

King Kothi Palace is of tourist importance. It is the palace to see its royal accomplishments. Though it was built in the modern era, it still preserves its Nizami aristocratic articles used by the Nizam's in the last stage of their regime. Vast collection of Nizami gems and ornaments are kept in this palace. It is in the main city and can be reached easily by a local transport. There are many hotels to cater the need of tourists. Locally you can find daily site visit conductors which are cheaper and properly guided by expert peoples. It is advisable not to come here in summer months and rest of the seasons is very pleasant time to visit Hyderabad. It is open to public on all days from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
