Falaknuma Palace is located in Falaknuma, Hyderabad in India. It is the largest palace of Hyderabadi Nizams. It is built on the Latina-British pattern of architecture in 1884 AD by Nawab Vikar ul Umra, of Paigha Dynasty in the Deccan India. It is a splendid tourist attraction place in Hyderabad. The best time to visit here is from August to February of a calendar year. Hyderabad is nigh connected with railways to all major towns. It has an international Airport at Shamshadabad, which connects domestic and international flights 24 hours. It is also well connected by roads. Its nearest junctions are Bangalore and Chennai from south India. Mumbai is on its west. Indore is on the North of Hyderabad.

Falaknuma Palace Architecture

Falaknuma Palace was built with a desire of European architecture in mind. The Vikar Ul Nawavab was a well travelled to Europe, which inspired him to build a modern palace here. The entire structure from an aerial view depicts a scorpion model on the ground. Like palace of Wales, it has many cylindrical pillars. All of its windows are framed with stained glassed which throes a beams of spectrum lights in the day time inside the palace. Italian marbles are used on the floors. It has 222 large luxury rooms. The walls and ceilings have unique oil paintings. It took 9 years to complete the entire palace work on a 13 hectors of land.

Falaknuma Palace History

Falaknuma Palace was resided by the owner Nawab Vikar ul Umra from 1884 to 1897. Later on it was handed over to the Nizams, who stayed here until 1950's. Currently The Taj Hotel is functioning here. The Taj group has done more renovation works and now caters as a luxury palace hotel in Hyderabad. World's larges dining hall is here with a seating capacity of 101 members' at a time. It has got the world's largest wodden made piano. This palace is known for its gems works. Dr.Rajendra Prasad the first president of India was the last guest to this Palace. The word Falaknuma literally means 'Mirror of the Sky'. This palace is still the property of current Nizams and shares the profits from the Taj group for functioning luxury hotel here. Though the heritage palace is turned into a heritage hotel, it still carries the same historical importance even today. It has vast collection of treasures like manuscripts and books, paintings, statues and antiquities.
