Cheluvamba Mansion is a grand beautiful palace built in the city of Mysore. It's now a 104 years old heritage palace. It was a queen's palace for the Wadiyar dynasty of Mysore Kingdom. It is a special architectural masterpiece to be visited once in Mysore. It is located at the Krishna Raja Sagar Road, Yadavagiri, Mysore City of Karnataka State in India.

Cheluvamba Mansion is built in a semi classical design of the modern India architecture. This mansion was built for the princess and all of its royal touches are seen everywhere in its structure, in stone and wooden works. Its crafts man ship is really appreciable. This is constructed in a large rectangular shape. It is a single storied mansion. This mansion has its specialty marks. It has a very beautiful 2 doomed towers on its main entrance. This make it differentiable from the other palaces found here built of the same time. It has got spacious pillared verandahs, which is found on the all side of this mansion. It has many pediments on its towers. There are beautiful carved motifs seen everywhere in its structure. Inside there are very spacious rooms and courtyard. Cheluvamba Mansion History

Cheluvamba Mansion is named after the princess named Cheluvajammanni; she was the wife of Krishna Raja Wodeyar IV of Wadiyar dynasty in Mysore. This mansion was built for her in 1910 AD. This is one of a grandeur built by this dynasty in the last phase of princely rule in India. Till the declaration of the independence of India, this princely class was living here. In 1950 Ad, it was handed over to the Karnataka government by dissolving the princely states in India. Prince Krishna Raja was the richest of all Mysore princes. In 1940 the British East India Company has valued his fortunes at an estimated price of 400 million US Dollars. A few of his treasures are kept here for the princess. He was great Maharaja, valued for his patronage by the British. He was also known for his moral values towards mankind. He was a Hindu prince and built many assets to add up in the Mysore City. In 1925, he encouraged the M K Gandhi's philosophy of self made clothes and he ordered his peoples to spin cotton threads in their homes. Gandhji also appreciated his work and named him Raja Shri. It has a happening place in those times for trade and culture. In the year 1950 Ad, a few portions on this mansion are occupied by a unit of food research lab. It is functioning in the name of CFTRI this is an autonomous body under the government of India. This research institute was opened by J N Nehru, who was the Prime Minister of India in those days. Currently it is a protected monument under the archeological department of India and a heritage palace for tourist attraction in Mysore.
