The Brundaban Palace at present known as the B N Palace is an example of the rich cultural heritage and beautiful crafted arts of ancient India. This enormous architectural structure was established alongside the majestic river of Mahendratanaya. The foundation stone of this royal palace was laid in the Gajapati district, which is present in Odisha. The Gajapati district is at a distance of 237 kilometres from the beautiful city of Bhubaneswar. The credit for the establishment of this beautiful creation only goes to the Maharaja ruling the empire of Paralakhemundi at that time. The palace was used by the King as a summer fortress to enjoy the beauty of nature.

Brundaban Palace Architecture

The palace of Brundaban was highly prosperous around the world for its architectural beauty. It depicts the astonishing architectural features and beautifully crafted designs of prehistoric India. Moreover, to add to the beauty of this fort it can be witnessed that the fort is surrounded by the beautiful thick teak trees. The basic structure of this monument is a three storied building. It also consists of a basement floor under it. This underground floor led its way to the Maharaja's original residing palace, so it bears a strong resemblance with it. This basement floor was actually brought up for the safety and security of the soldiers during wars. This was a secret chamber for them. Moreover, the attractive paintings and crafts are striking features of this palace. The exterior part of the palace is lined up by an attractive orchard. The parapet is also decorated by striking artworks relating to the primitive period. Though, the place was actually built as a summer house for the king. At present it was reorganized as an educational institute by the Government of India after taking the initiative to preserve this ancient structure.

Brundaban Palace History

The palace of Brundaban was designed and established by the great Maharaja Krushna Chandra Gajapati. He was better known as a planner of the beautiful state of Orissa. This fort was part of this plan to nurture the beauty and significance of not only the state but also of this historical fort. It is evident from the history that this fort was created in the mid eighteenth century. As per the historic relevance of the fort it can be stated that the location of this fort was planned by the Maharaja in such a way that it could protect the state from the foreign intruders. However, in the present day context it can be asserted that Shri Krushna Chandra Gajapati Collage and the institution of IGNOU were the basic institutions, which carry out their classes in the elegant palace of Brundaban.
