According to the historians believe, the palace of Bastar was constructed during the rule of the Bastar State, when they shifted their capital from old Bastar to that of Jagdalpur. The Bastar State came into existence in and around 1324 AD, when Annama Deva, the brother of the Kakatiya King, Pratapa Rudra Deva left behind Warangala and brought in his kingdom in Bastar. It was established under the sponsorship of local goddess Danteshwari, and is still a deity of Bastar region.
