Abdul Wahab Khan's Tomb is located in Rayalaseema Region, Kurnool District, Andhra Pradesh State of India. It is 132 miles due south from Hyderabad. This mausoleum is of historical importance and is a heritage monument in Kurnool district. This place is a touristic importance for Indo Islamic architecture and as historical place of Nawab's Kingdom. To reach here from north, east and western parts of India has to reach Hyderabad City and go to Kurnool by bus or trains, which is a 3-4 hours journey from here. From south it is well connected with Bangalore and Chennai by roads and railways directly to Kurnool district. Tourist travelling from Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka can reach here directly by national Highway No.7 and by trains to reach Dhone, Nandayal and Adoni Junctions to reach Kurnool by Super fast express and passenger trains.

Abdul Wahab Khan's Tomb Architecture

Abdul Wahab Khan's Tomb built on Indo Islamic architectural pattern. It is built on plain land of Deccan Plateaus on the back drop of Hundri River and is looking magnificent from the river banks. It is totally build on black granite and lime stones and its floors are placed by pure white marbles. It is a square shaped edifice whit 2 Domes on the top one small dome in the entrance and the large on e directly placed above the tomb. It is also having 5 small tower pillars with four side openings and cylindrical caps on its head. Its wall is surrounded by a parapet wall and looks beautiful with carving works on it. In side there are 3 Verandas, one small and the other 2 are large ones. His tomb is places in the central veranda. The Edifice has 20 Pillars on its door front surrounded by the all sides whit a corridor along with it to go around the tomb.

Abdul Wahab Khan's Tomb History

Abdul Wahab Khan's Tomb was built in the year 1618 AD. He has entitled as the foremost Nawab of Kurnool. Formerly he was the Bijapur Governor. He acclaimed this title after a long battle with the king of Vijaya Nagara Empire named Araviti Gopal Raju. In lieu of his victory of over the last Vijaya Nagara king, and putting an end to these Hindu clans from Rayalseema Region, he was honored by Bijapur Sultan and designated this Nawab's post. It was also declared as the Kurnool as the gateway to Rayalaseema for the Hyderabadi Nizam's from 17th century on wards to conquer more provinces towards the south of Deccan Plateaus. He was responsible to spread Islamic rule in non Islamic regions towards the south India. Recently it was renovated byINR.200 cores, now it is totally looking great on the banks of Hundri River.

Abdul Wahab Khan's Tomb is an ancient monument and is of historical significance to tourist and history buffs. This mausoleum is open to public and there is no entry fee. All religions are welcome here and only few behaviors must be maintained like no tobaccos, and foot were must be removed before entering the tomb place. To reach here, there are 24 hours bus and train services. The nearest air port is the Rajiv Gandhi International air port located at Hyderabad. And Hyderabad City is the major junction for flight, rail and roads to connect Kurnool, which is 212 Km from here. This takes around 4 hours to reach here. Tourists can visit here from July to February month which are favorable conditions of weather to national and international tourist. Since, the summer months are always too hot here. There are budget hotel and 3 star hotels available here. Local languages spoken here are Urdu, Hindi, Telegu, Kanada and English.
