Gurudwara Nanakwadi Sahib Mythology

The myth of the creation of Nanakwadi Sahib is truthfully impactful indeed. It is believed that the Sikh religious leader cum saint, Guru Nanak had arrived in the place of present Nanakwadi Sahib in the year 1515. On his memory, the gurudwara was created. As him, being the first saint of Sikhism had visited in Nanakwadi Sahib, it has become a vital worship centre for Sikhs. According to Sikh legend, Guru Nanak had been travelling from Baroach city to the course to Rajasthan. In his way Guru Nanak stayed in Nanakwadi Sahib for about 3 years from the year 1415 to 1418. The exact location of the place where Guru Nanak stayed was identified about 50 years ago. On that time, a small gurudwara was created by the local Sikh businessmen. Later, the gurudwara was transformed into a large building, which was approximately 15 years ago. This large building was named as Nanakwadi Sahib.

In accordance with historical records, when Guru Nanak visited the place and stayed in a shrine which is situated next to Nanakwadi Sahib was in quite bad shape. On that time, the economy of India was very poor. The local people requested Guru Nanak to bless that place so that the economic condition develop. Hence, Guru Nanak gave his blessing to the place and even today, the businessman of this place are in high spirits. The shrine still exist in present days, but it is not in very good condition. Some states that there is a well in Nanakwadi Sahib where Guru Nanak used to take his regular bath. The key reason behind the creation of the gurudwara is to make sure that the reminiscences of the first Sikh saint is well preserved.
