According to the history of Sikhism, Guru Gobind Singh Ji in a successful manner reached the village named Alamgir after the martyrdom of his own mother and four sons by Mughals. It is to be noted that the Guru in the robes of Pir of Uchch had arrived here. He was carried in a palanquin by two Afgan brothers named Ghani Khan and Nabi Khan plus accompanied by three followers named Bhai Daya Singh, Dharam Singh and Man Singh. The thirsty Guru Ji asked an old lady who was gathering cow dung for some water to drink and take bath. She mentioned that the land is dry and there is a well at a far distance. People never go to that well because of the presence of a python in that area. After hearing the old-lady's version, he took an arrow and killed the Python. He took the next arrow and shot it on the ground. A spring of water appeared from the ground. The old lady mentioned the miracle to the village people. They came to meet the Guru ji. The old lady requested the Guru to cure her leprosy. Guru ji told that whoever takes a bath under this water spring with belief will get cured from all sadness. A horse trader named Bhai Nigahia Singh gifted a horse to the Guru ji. So the bed was left in this village and Guru ji proceeded the rest of the journey on the back of the horse. A Gurudwara was raised at the spot where Guru stayed in this village. It came to be known as Manji Sahib or Alamgir Sahib.
