The Gurudwara is open to people from all sect, religion and cast. Around 100,000 people visit the Gurudwara daily. The main festival is the Vaishaki which falls during the month of April every year. As per the version of the historians and local legends, there are two histories related to Gurudwara Shri Toot Sahib. The first history of Gurudwara Shri Toot Sahib cites that the Sixth Guru, Shri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji tied his horse with the tree of named toot plus sat on the platform just down the tree. It is from this event or situation which the name is famous known as gurdwara toot Sahib Ji.



In the Land of Panjab, in the year 1590, Guru Arjan Dev Ji who was the Fifth Sikh Guru founded Tarn Taran Sahib. At that particular time, the activities related to the digging of the lake tank immediately started. This task was completed in a successful manner and then it was the largest and biggest sarovar lake in the whole of Punjab. A famous Sikh saint who was named Dhan Dhan Baba Buddha Ji, (1506-1631) laid the foundation stone of Darbar Sahib.



The Young Atal Rai is honored with the title of Baba or a grand old man by the Sikh religion after his sudden death. The Sikh community people visit this Gurudwara with wishes to be fulfilled in their personal and professional life. In 1606, a life size statue of Hargobind was successfully erected at this site. It is to be remembered that the Akal Takht was actually built by the sixth Sikh guru named Guru Hargobind. It was built as a perfect symbol of political sovereignty. It is a right place where spiritual and different types of temporal concerns or issues of the Sikh people could be immediately addressed with a lot of perfection.
