In the beginning Guru ka Taal was a reservoir in the location near Sikandra. It dates back to the 17th century. The reservoir was created in the year 1610 AD for gathering and conserving rainwater in Agra. It was during the era of Mughal emperor Jahangir. The reservoir was used for the purpose of irrigation throughout the dry season. When Guru ka Taal was created in that location, the reservoir was decorated with stone figures.
