One of the most important things in life for us all humans is the communication. It is through communication people can talk and express their feelings and emotions to one another. A message can be sent across accurately if the communication is clear and crisp. Also, living in a society we are bound to communicate to each other for our own needs and wants otherwise we would live an isolated life. Therefore the importance of communication is inevitably understood by humans and not just humans this art of communication was important in the times of the God. Hindu mythology says that the most talented person who was very good in communicating with almost everybody, from Devtas to demons, to gods and humans, he knew exactly how, what and where to talk about. He was none other than the great Narad Muni. Therefore he is called the pioneer of the communication according to the Hindu mythology. A day has been dedicated to honor this great person and is called the Narad Jayanti. In India every year a huge celebration takes place for this very day and people take great participation. Enthusiasm and excitement is seen among students and working class especially. This event also commemorates the birthday of Devrishi Narad, who was one of the great seven rishis, comes every year. Narad Jayanti is held usually on the day which falls right after Poornima (a full moon night) between April and May.

In Hindu mythology there are many different types of stories about Narad Muni. A Hindu scripture has mentioned that he was a part of Lord Brahma and took birth from his forehead. However there are others that confirm him to be the son of a great sage called Kashyap. There are stories that he used to travel far off places covering heaven and earth and used to talk to people giving them information about the things that were happening in other parts of the world. He is therefore also called the ancient newspaper for the same reason. His, this work was helpful to many during those ancient days. There are also stories that said he sometimes created trouble through his communication but always had a positive intention. While he did that he always wanted to help someone in need. He used his communication power to influence the powerful gods and demons to come to peaceful conclusions. This is why he is called the communication God.

The Narad Jayanti is also called as the 'Patrakar Diwas' owing to Narad Muni's nature. It is celebrated all over India mainly by the publication houses, newspaper business and media since their business is all about communication. He is also remembered and worshipped by musicians and music lovers for he was the one who had invented the musical instrument of Veena. This Narad Jayanti is observed chiefly to remind people that communication is of utmost importance and that all big and small problems of the world and of life can be solved through communication and that war is unnecessary.
