In Hindu mythology there are many different types of stories about Narad Muni. A Hindu scripture has mentioned that he was a part of Lord Brahma and took birth from his forehead. However there are others that confirm him to be the son of a great sage called Kashyap. There are stories that he used to travel far off places covering heaven and earth and used to talk to people giving them information about the things that were happening in other parts of the world. He is therefore also called the ancient newspaper for the same reason. His, this work was helpful to many during those ancient days. There are also stories that said he sometimes created trouble through his communication but always had a positive intention. While he did that he always wanted to help someone in need. He used his communication power to influence the powerful gods and demons to come to peaceful conclusions. This is why he is called the communication God.

It is celebrated all over India mainly by the publication houses, newspaper business and media since their business is all about communication. He is also remembered and worshipped by musicians and music lovers for he was the one who had invented the musical instrument of Veena. This Narad Jayanti is observed chiefly to remind people that communication is of utmost importance and that all big and small problems of the world and of life can be solved through communication and that war is unnecessary.
