India is a land of festivals and celebrations. The different states of India have various interesting fairs and festivals that brings alive the local culture and tradition of the region. The state of Rajasthan is known for its colourful fairs and festivals which is popular all over the world. One such fair is the Jodhpur Nagaur fair. This fair is considered as the second largest fair in the whole of India. It is held somewhere in the month of January - February in the Jodhpur city of Rajasthan and continues for a total of 8 days. One of the main attractions of this fair is the trading of cattle. Hence it is also called the Cattle fair. Every year during this fair about 70000 different kinds of cattle are traded. The different kinds of animals that are traded during this fair are bullocks, camels, horses, sheep etc. Besides cattle one can also find different kinds of spices, the local handicrafts made of wood and iron, leather goods especially made of camel leather are found in this fair. Another major attraction of this fair is the Mirchi Bazaar which is considered as the largest red chilly market of India.
Besides shopping and trading there are various other ways to enjoy during this fair. Different activities and competitions are organised during this fair like tug of war, camel race, bullock race, cock fights etc. There will be traditional music and dance performances, puppet shows, storytelling etc. Every year thousands of tourists from all over the world come here to enjoy and participate in this grand conglomeration of fun and business. Besides tourists, traders and businessmen etc also come here to transact business and make some healthy profits. The whole city of Jodhpur comes alive during this period and there is riot of colour and celebrations all over.
