The so known as the international yoga festival which is celebrated by all the yoga devotees was organised by the Uttarakhand tourism along with the group of yoga devotees from the Parmarth Niketan Ashram community of Rishikesh. The two health enthusiast and yoga spiritual devotee organised this festival and started observing every year to mark the importance of yoga to humanity. This festival recently came into live and there is no exact date when and how was this festival came into existence.
Yoga was basically originated from India yet today it is kept as an international festival. The fact about this is that it has become more influence among the outsiders and the foreign countries then the Indians. The people of the other country follow them strictly and are more serious about their health and spiritual well- being.
Though yoga was originated from India unlike those of the olden days when the tradition of yoga and Ayurveda controls life the modernity and advancement of age have pulled people from practicing yoga to the modern machines and other fitness equipment's. It's not that people are unaware of the truths and power about yoga and its practices however almost all the people nowadays are not much keen about following the old tradition of practicing yoga and meditation daily which had led to various ailments of not only physical health but also it has led to the lack of spiritual development and morality.

The international yoga festival is also one of such programs or projects organised by the tourism experts and religious people.
Yoga is a generic term use for physical, mental and spiritual disciplines. In India it was well practice tradition followed by almost all the religions that are found in the country. If we take a step back and look back into the religious practice and customs of the olden days you will find the traditional practice of yoga in Hinduism, Jainism, and Buddhism and even in Sikhism too. The practice of yoga was not only popular among the Indians of the 19th and 18th centuries alone. As per study, long before the Indians the practice of yoga had been popular in the western countries of United States and other European countries. However, the western countries practice mainly for health purpose as a complementary intervention for cancer, asthma and other ailments and not much for spiritual or other purpose. Yet in India it started mainly for spiritual examination and thus it was added to the religious practice and today it is kept as a festival for everyone to celebrate and know the importance of living a life with yoga.
