In north east region of India, Buddha Purnima is celebrated in gumpas. There is a religious belief that during this day if a person carries the book of monks than he will be free from all his bad sins. Every one from different religions can join the path. People carry those religious books and make a walk of few minutes and at the end they finish it in gumpas. In this day the celebration to his birth are fully displayed in religious thoughts. The monk displays the religious dance which is called as Gumpa Tamasha. In these religious shows they get dressed up in various characters and perform the role of particular character. During this occasion Rimpochee gives darshan to all the followers of Lord Buddha. It is one of the important festivals for Buddhists all over the world. The festival is known as Wesak festival in Srilanka and Buddha Purnima in India. The day is especially celebrated in Bodh Gaya, Lumbini as it is the birth place of Lord Gautama Buddha. There are many other places in the entire world like Sri Lanka, China, Burma, Cambodia, Thailand, Tibet, Korea, Vietnam, Mongolia, Japan, Bhutan, Nepal where Buddhist are present. All these places celebrate Buddha Purnima in a grand way. The moment of happiness in celebrating Buddha Jayanti is peaceful and filled with joy.
