Howlite was discovered by Henry How in the 19th century. He was a mineralogist who discovered it in Nova Scotia and hence the stone is named after him. It is found in large cauliflower like masses and is usually soft. It can easily be dyed and used as a cheap alternative for other expensive gemstones. It looks like falling snow which is dyed in rich hue. It can also resemble turquoise, lapis lazuli and red coral which makes it look grand. It is believed to have extremely calming energy and can be used to relax anxiety, tension and intense emotions. It also helps to calm your mind and reduce any fretful thoughts that might be troubling you.
