Yoga Niketan Ashram Rishikesh Uttarakhand

Yoga Niketan Ashram is located in the place named as Muni-Ki-Reti, within the Shivanand Nagar post office limit, in the district of Rishikesh, in the state of Uttarrakhand, in Northern India. This ashram's motorable road entrance gate is situated at Laxman Jhula bypass road. It is very close to Badrinath Road. The premise is spread in more than 7 acres dotted with various types of flowers, fruits and medicinal plants and old-aged broad trees. It is run by Yoga Niketan Trust. Its publication office is located in New Delhi. It has branches at Yoga Niketan Kedarghat at Uttarkashi, in Uttarakhand, Yoga Niketan Gangotri, in Uttarkashi, in Uttarakhand, Yoga Niketan Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir which is temporarily closed at present, Yoga Niketan Kadial Road in Manali, in Himachal Pradesh and Japan Yoga Niketan in Tottori-Ken, in Japan.

Yoga Niketan Ashram was founded by Swami Yogeshwaranand Paramahans who is regarded as one of the greatest Yogis of the 20th century. He had spent his life reviving the ancient science of Yoga. In the Himalayas, he lived a good part of his life in extreme austerity and renunciation mostly practicing from all those written in the scriptures for the perfect realization of God and soul with a lot of perfection. He was formerly called as Brahmachari Vyas Dev ji. He left home at an early age and kept wondering in search of answer for his questions and a real Guru. He met Yogi Paramananda Avadhoot from who he learnt perfecting shunya (void) samadh and Samprajnata Samadhi plus the ultimate divine knowledge. At the age of ninety-nine, he merged with Brahma.

It is to be highly remembered that Yoga Niketan Trust was founded in a successful manner for many good purpose by Swami Yogeshwaranand Paramahans. He is regarded as the master of Raj Yoga. It is to be highly noted that he is the only proud India who had been so far granted Honorary Presidentship of International League of Yoga under the Auspitious of UNESCO. He performed in Japan, the act of stopping and restarting the heart through yoga. This was supervised by a team of highly qualified and experienced doctors with medical equipments. In this manner, he displayed the power of Yoga to the world. Mr. K. Kimura who was a billionaire in Japan was impressed with him and became the first disciple from Japan. At present, he runs the Japan branch of this ashram named Japan Yoga Niketan. Mr Mertens Luciew who is popularly known as Atma Muni runs the Holland branch of Yoga Niketan.

Accommodation at Yoga Niketan Ashram

Yoga Niketan Ashram comes with different types of staying arrangement with room types and tariff in order to accommodate the long lists of participants and guests. A Non A.C room will cost Rs.600.00 per person per day for Indians and Rs. 900.00 per person per day for foreigners. On the other hand, A.C Single Occupancy will cost only Rs. 1300.00 (Per Day) and A.C Double is just Rs. 1900.00 (Per Day). In the case of Guest house, Single Occupancy will cost Rs. 750.00 (Per Day) and Double Occupancy will cost only Rs. 995.00 (Per Day).

Patanjali Yoga Shastra Classes

In Patanjali yoga shastra, the entire education of the ashram is totally based with a lot of perfection. The principal activities of this ashram is to successfully train and provide better guidance to all those who wholeheartedly participate and practice the eigh fold paths of Patanjali. Yoga Niketan Ashram gives training for physical, mental and spiritual activities to a great extent.

Without any type of discrimination of caste, creed or nationality, the admission to these courses is open to all. Each and every participant should stay at this ashram for a minimum of 8 days. Those who are coming for a very short stay can avail the stay arrangement at the ashram's guest house. They can even avail the very short duration courses of Patanjali yoga sastra. There are no classes on Holidays. At the time of Aarti at Radha-Krishna temple, all inmates and sadhaks are encouraged to be present. They can even participate in the cleaning activities of the prayer hall, yoga hall and meditation hall. The mode of teaching is in Hindi and English languages. A nominal fees and donation are collected for the enrollment and participations in the above said yoga programs.

Facilities at Yoga Niketan Ashram

Sadhna Hall - The meditation hall is named as Sadhna hall. The hall is equipped with room cooler and air conditioner for the total comfort of the participants. The hall can accommodate nearly 100 persons for any type of activities and functions plus classes. Cushion sofas are provided for seating arrangements. This hall is used for early morning and evening hour's yoga and meditation class and for serving dinner at night.

Yoga Hall - Yoga hall cum Samadhi hall is used in the morning and evening hours exclusively for yoga classes and regular yoga practice sessions. In this hall, Asanas, kriyas and pranayams are practiced. This hall is also equipped with air cooler and air conditioners.

Library - The ashram's library is full equipped with good stocks of spiritual literature. There are good number of books related to yoga and meditation. There are also books related to religion, philosophy and Indian literature and history. There are some famous books that are translated in Indian and foreign languages. There is a need for registering as member with enrollment fees. A book taken for reading should be returned within a stipulated timeframe. In this library, books aren't sold to the inmates and guest. A pin drop silence should be maintained in the reading room.

Kitchen- In this ashram, it is a community kitchen where different types of health food items are prepared that is free from all types of masalas and spices. At breakfast, tea and porridge is served to the inmates and staffs. The lunch comprises of Indian Chappati (bread), Rice and One particular type of dal with green and greenly vegetable salad. Each and every staff and inmates are provided with dishes which have to keep with themselves and cleaned. At tea time, a high tea with snacks, seasonal fruits and raw vegetable salad is served.

Guest House - The ashram's guest house is run commercially based on donation and nominal rent collected from the inmates and guests who prefer to stay in it. It is located on the Badrinath main road. There is a Hindu temple near the guest house that can be visited by all related to the ashram and the public. There are just 20 rooms. It is close to the bank of the river Ganga. It is to be remembered that this guest house is equal to a three star or five star hotels in the Himalayan region. This guest house comes with telephone facilities and canteen attached with it. All those person who are staying here can go down the downstairs and have a holy dip in the river Ganga. A good panoramic of the Indian holy river can be had from the broad windows of the guest house rooms. The cool and refreshing air of river Ganga occupies the room too. There is 24hrs electricity and water supply provided to the rooms. There is enough space for car parking in the front area of the ashram.

Pick and Drop Facilities - All the inmates and guest can avail the service of pick and drop from the nearest airport, railway station and bus station.
