It is to be remembered that Vishwaguru Mahamandaleshwar Paramhans Swami Maheshwarananda Puri in a successful manner laid the foundation stone in 1990 of a large-scale project named as "Om Vishwa Deep Gurukul Swami Maheshwarananda Ashram Education & Research Centre" that is affectionately called as "Om Ashram" under the shelter of International Sri Deep Madhavananda Ashram Fellowship and Sri Devpuriji Ashram Trust.
The main aim of this ashram is to largely promote the invaluable spiritual treasure of Vedic culture and the ancient Indian science of Yoga. This particular ashram is largely dedicated in order to upkeep the environment; create world peace and the protection of all life. It supports education and healthcare plus hosts various charity events. It also runs Sri Swami Madhavananda Austria Hospital and Jadan School.
OM ashram is perfectly managed ecologically. It can accommodate approximately 500 yoga students for education related to theory and practical in Yoga, Philosophy and Sanskrit. In the ashram's large complex, the central building is constructed in the perfect shape of the ancient Sanskrit symbol known as OM. It is to be highly noted that the sound of OM comprises of three letters that are A, U and M. It actually represents the cosmic vibration that is the original eternal sound. According to the local legends and religious experts, OM is the underlying source of creation and will forever be. On the other hand, OM largely represents completion and wholeness. It is considered as the most beautiful mantra that contains all three fundamental aspects of God - Brahma who is regarded as the Creator, Vishnu who is regarded as the Sustainer and Shiva who is regarded as the Liberator.
This central building monument is the largest man-made symbol of OM in the world. It is situated in an area of 250 acres. In order to form this impressive OM shape, there are 108 compartments of residential units. It actually attracts tremendous cosmic energy to a great extent. On the other hand, these said units are symbolic of the 108 beads related to the Japa Mala. Moreover, a lake will largely represent the crescent Moon of the OM symbol. Its bindu or point is in the form of a tower. With 12 temples, the tower is nearly 108 feet in height. A large overhead water tank is at 90 feet and above this is situated a Surya temple largely dedicated to the Surya Bhagawan or the Lord of the Sun.
At the heart of the Om Ashram, the Mahasamadhi shrine of His Holiness Dharmsamrat Parmahans Swami Madhavananda Ji (Holy Guruji) is located.
