It is strongly believed that when Poojya Maharishi Shri Punitachariji was passing by this hill, he had the darshan of Sadguru Dattatreya behind the ashram present premises on a rock. Then onwards, wholehearted chanting of the mantra 'Hari Om Tatsat Jai Guru Data just keeps on full-fledge reverberating at this spot all the time. At this ashram, Group prayer, meditation and chanting are held regularly in the early morning hours and in the meditation hall situated within the ashram.In the evenings, at the satsanga hall, meditation, group chanting and satsanga are conducted by Poojya Bapushri and Poojya Maiyashri
This ashram is wholly non-sectarian; people of all faith can drop in achieving their goal plus understanding God and lead a peaceful life. There is no discrimination in the name of brahman or non-brahman, rich or poor, men or women and any religion or sect. All are treated equally at this ashram. It is to be highly noted that all the sadhakas eat together and live together plus participate in prayer, aarti, pooja and mediation as a group. Guru or Guru-nriantra needn't be changed by the sadhaks while staying in this ashram. The aim of each and every sadhaka is to put his or her best efforts to perfectly advance in the actual direction of attainment of the life's aim in a successful manner. This entire process is done through the japa of his own Guru-mantra along with chanting of the benedictory Tvlaharnantra 'Hari Om, Tatsat Jai guru Datta'. In this manner meditation-a stage can be reached easily.
Residential Block - The residential block consist of a dormitory, sharing rooms, double rooms and single rooms. These rooms have basic furniture and furnishing for the comfort of the inmates. The rooms are attached with shower and toilet. There is a common bathroom and toilet in each floor too. It has spacious balcony. A mattress and pillow plus bed spread are provided by the ashram authorities. It is really a comfortable place to stay for short or long stay arrangement and indulge in the courses provided by the ashram.
Kitchen - This ashram has a specious kitchen that is attached with big dinning hall. The kitchen is equipped with modern cooking range and equipments. Sattivic food is provided in three meals with tea during the break hours. A group of voluntary staffs manage the preparation and cooking activities at this kitchen. Food items are prepared and cooked in a hygienic manner with a lot of perfection.
Library - The Library is situated within the ashram premises. It has good stock of books, journals, magazines and newspapers. The reading room is spacious with comfortable furniture and furnishing. It is a calm and quiet place to indulge in reading and book browsing activities.
Meditation Hall - The ashram has a large meditation hall that can be used for meditation activities. The hall is well-ventilated with broad windows and doors. It is an apt place for indulging in various types of meditation activities. There is a separate chamber for the instructors within the hall.
At Girnar Sadhana Ashram gives a better insight towards meditation. The variety of mindfulness activities, group discussion and personal reflection can be achieved through a successful manner. The compassion-in-action curriculum is apt for indulging in meditation activities. In this process, the participants can begin the process with an introduction to mindful breathing process; build upon that skill of a basic building block of mindfulness by following a three-step process:
Becoming Aware: In this process, the participants deepen their larger awareness of their emotions, thoughts and physical sensations.
Broadening their Perspective: In this process, the participants can learn to settle themselves with a lot of perfection down plus proactively rightly manage their reaction and actions.
Compassion in Action: In this process, the participants engage in service learning projects which address a particular community that need in their campus or classrooms, or just within the wider given community.
Girnar Sadhana Ashram is the right place to learn the basic of yoga with a lot of perfection from its residential yoga instructors. They teach the participants in a step by step method and make them understand the benefits of each and every asana to a great extent. The session of yoga are conducted in two sessions that is in the early morning session and in the evening session. The participants are advised to wear a simple and comfortable dress code so that it will be comfortable for indulging in the practice of asanas.
The asanas that are practiced in the first session are Viparitakarani or Legs up the Wall Pose posture and Vajrasana or Thunderbolt (Diamond) Pose posture. Pavanamuktaasana or Supine knees to chest pose posture, Urdhva mukha shvanasana or Upward Facing Dog Pose posture Utkatasana or Chair Pose posture, Ushtrasna or Camel Pose posture, Utthitaparshvakonasana or Side Angle Pose posture, Gomukhasana or Cow face posture, JaanushirShaasana or Head-to-knee posture and Shalabhaasana or Locust posture.
The asanas that are practiced in the first session are Dhanuraasana or Bow posture, Chaturaa-NgadanDaasana or Four-limbed staff posture, Prasaritapadottana or Standing Straddled Forward Bend posture and Sarvaa~Ngaasana or Shoulder Stand posture.
The asanas that are practiced in the first session are Navasana or Boat Pose posture, Pashchimottaanaasana or Full Forward Bend posture, Balasana or Child Pose posture, Halaasana or Plough posture and Jathaparivrittasana or Reclining Stomach Twist posture.
The asanas that are practiced in the first session are Matsyaasana or Fish posture, Marjarasana or Cat and cow stretch posture, Rajakapotasana or King Pigeon Pose posture, TrikoNaasana or Triangle posture, Suryanamaskaara or Sun Salutation posture, Ardhamatsyendraasana or Spinal Twist posture and Bhuja~Ngaasana or Cobra posture.
The asanas that are practiced in the first session are Virabhadraasana 2 or Warrior 2 posture, Shavaasana or Corpse posture, Virabhadraasana or Warrior 1 posture, Vrikshasana or Tree Pose posture, Yogamudraa or Yoga Seal posture, Paarshvottanasana or Intense Side Stretch posture and Setubandhasana or Bridge Pose posture.
The practice session of yoga classes are held in the meditation hall. The participants are advised to be very punctual for their classes without fail under any situation, circumstances and condition. In case, if they are taking leave then they are advised to inform their instructors in advance. No compensation classes will be conducted for the missed out theory or practical classes on demand. The participants are advised not to venture out of the ashram without any prior permission from the concerned ashram management authorities. They are also advised in not to indulge in any types of activities or functions that are against this ashram. They should maintain a good relationship with the instructors and ashram management authorities.
