Divya Jivan Sangh Sivananda Ashram is located in the village named Jodhpur Tekari, in the district of Ahmadabad, in the state of Gujarat, in Western India. This ashram in this location is an organization that was established in a successful manner in order to disseminate the wisdom teaching and message of Holy Master Sri Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj. On the other hand, this particular ashram is managed by Sri Divya Jivan Sanskrutik Sangh. It is to be noted that before him, this ashram was run by Sri Laxmikant Dave who had actually aspired to bring up an Ashram in Ahmadabad and later by Brahmlin Sri Swami Pavitranandaji Maharaj. This ashram is spread over four acres of land that was brought from the government of Gujarat.

At present, this ashram is popular for its multifaceted spiritual activities, socio-religious activities and educational services. This ashram is rightly named as Divya Jivan Sangh Sivananda Ashram by its Guruji. This ashram is opened for public throughout the year. The style of function of this ashram is known as Sivananda style. The techniques adopted in this ashram are meditation and pranayama. The courses offered at this ashram are in form of retreat and regular classes. It offers teachers training, therapy and general classes for interested students and enthusiasts. The course levels offered are beginner level, intermediate level and advanced level. At this ashram accommodation and Sattvic food arrangements are provided for the inmates.

Yoga Courses Offered at Divya Jivan Sangh Sivananda Ashram

1. Yoga Classes - for Beginner Students

Yoga Classes - for the Beginner students is offered for interested and enthusiastic student at this ashram every month from 1st to 10th and 15th to 25th. The classes are conducted in two sessions. The morning session is held from 5.30am to 7.00am and the evening classes are held from 6.30pm to 7.45pm.

Daily Schedules

  • Morning practice such as asana, pranayama and shatkarma are conducted between 5.30am to 7.00am

  • Breakfast is served at 9:30-10:30am

  • Lunch is served at 13:30-14:30pm

  • Evening practice (asana) is conducted at 6.30pm to 7.45pm.

  • Dinner is served at 20:00pm

In this course, each and every asana are taught by step by step method so that the participant can easy understand and indulge in self practice. The instructors use simle language in order to make their students and participant to easily grab what is taught in the yoga classes.

A moderate fee that is really affordable and reasonable is charged for Yoga Classes - for the Beginner students from the participants. This fee includes the stay and food arrangement within the ashram.

2. Yoga Classes - for Advanced Yoga Students

For Advanced Yoga Students program is conducted at this ashram on Everyday except Sunday. This particular program are conducted in two sessions that is in the morning session from 5.30 am to 6.45 am, 7.00am- 8.00am and 10.30 am to 11.30 am and the evening session from 6.00pm to 7.00pm

In this course apart from the regular asanas taught in the beginner's class, certain difficult asanas related to advanced or difficult stages are taught in the theory and practical classes with a lot of perfection.

An average fee that is reasonable and affordable is charged for Yoga Classes - for the advanced students from the participants. This fee includes the stay and food arrangement within the ashram.

3. Yoga Classes for Women

The yoga classes for women are conducted at this ashram from Monday to Friday from 4pm to 5pm. This particular theory and practical classes are handled by women instructors only.

The asanas that are taught exclusively for women in this course are mountain pose, palms joined pose, standing backward bend, standing forward bend, kneeling warrior 1 (Left leg forward), plank pose, four limbed staff pose, cobra pose, downward facing dog pose, kneeling warrior 1 (right leg forward), standing forward bend pose and standing backward bend pose

Other general and basic asanas that are taught in this course are Pashchimottaanaasana or Full Forward Bend posture, Paarshvottanasana or Intense Side Stretch posture, Ardhamatsyendraasana or Spinal Twist posture, Ardhachandrasana or Half Moon Pose posture, Balasana or Child Pose posture, Rajakapotasana or King Pigeon Pose posture,

It is to be noted that in the company and presence of women instructors, naturally women participant feels more comfortable in indulging in yoga asana. They get their privacy in moving and indulging in various types of asanas. They also feel free to discuss the physical and mental problems with them while indulging asana without any shyness and hesitation. This condition, situation and circumstances helps them a lot to understand the various act of asana very easily from their instructors.

Facilities at Divya Jivan Sangh Sivananda Ashram

Divya Jivan Sangh Sivananda Ashram comes many modern and comfortable facilities in order to meet the needs and requirement of its inmates, participants, students, guests and visitors. In the ashram, there is a residential block with single rooms, double rooms, shared rooms and dormitory rooms with attached shower and toilets. There are also common toilets in each floor. The rooms come with basic furniture.

The ashram has a specious and hygienic kitchen that is attached with dinning hall that can serve nearly 500 people at a time. The ashram's library has a good stock of books, journals, magazines and periodicals related to Yoga, meditation and spirituality. The ashram is covered with green lawn that is dotted with beautiful gardens with colorful plants and broad trees. The entire atmosphere and environment of this ashram looks very peaceful plus calm and quiet.
